What are Root Canals?

Broken and deteriorating teeth are generally corrected with a tooth-colored filling or another type of replacement when they are identified and managed as soon as possible. However, when the damage spreads to the tooth's core (also referred to as the pulp), root canal therapy is sometimes required to return oral wellness and save the tooth from extraction. A root canal is a specialized therapy performed at Dr. Levi Evalt Dental Excellence to remove infected inner tooth tissue and seal off the damaged tooth to restore oral health. Dr. Levi Evalt addresses abscessed or internally deteriorating teeth utilizing delicate root canal treatment and employs sedation dentistry to further boost patient relaxation. If you find yourself with a damaged or infected tooth, please contact our Corry, PA facility soon to find out about the benefits of modern root canal therapy.

What Are the Benefits of Root Canal Therapy?

The root canal therapy performed by Dr. Evalt at Dr. Levi Evalt Dental Excellence effectively removes the damaged pulp from an infected tooth and prevents further oral health issues. The benefits of this treatment at our Corry, PA facility include:

  • Improving comprehensive oral health
  • Avoidance of tooth loss
  • Enabling normal oral function, including normal swallowing and chewing
  • Preventing the jawbone from degeneration
  • Stopping the spread of infection to surrounding teeth and pulp
  • Enhancing the look of your teeth

What to Expect from A Root Canal

State-of-the-art techniques are utilized to improve a patient's relaxation throughout a root canal procedure. At Dr. Levi Evalt Dental Excellence, root canals are performed under local anesthesia and could be combined with sedation methods to produce additional ease. Once the tooth has lost feeling, a screen is positioned to block the patient's oral structures. The abscessed area will then be accessed through a small hole created in the upper part of the tooth. The pulp, the structure that holds the nerve center and blood supply for every tooth, will be extracted, and the region will be restructured utilizing advanced endodontic instruments before being fully sanitized. Dr. Evalt should then protect the diseased tooth with a special substance and follow that with an anesthetic filling to encourage the recovery process.

Dental Excellence was quick, professional and very helpful when my husband needed a root canal. I had posted a review explaining a billing issue that I felt was not resolved as quickly as it should have, after much discussion we have come to a resolution we are both happy with. I appreciate the office going above and beyond for their patients during stressful times with insurance run-arounds. Thank you Dental Excellence!

Im a very VERY hard individual to impress/please and, i never give 5 stars, however, was GREAT experience. Ive ripped last 2 teeth out myself. 3xcept apparently left some roots🤷‍♂️ Welp quick xray, and gave me very Detailed plan/point of attack and gave me MULTIPLE directions to go. Truly made me feel as if it was 110% my decision and noone twisted my arm about it. Sweet lady nurses that I enjoyed their company, (even Ninja nurse i had no idea was there) and the doctor not only made it quick and painless, explained everything in a detailed format, along with showing the xray and point of emphasis. Truly a MUST GO. Officially now will call it, will be my Dentist office for life!

About Us
Can I drive home after having root canal therapy?
Most of the time, you can drive yourself home after a root canal procedure as long as you have not been given sedation or general anesthesia. However, you may experience some numbness or discomfort that can affect your ability to drive safely. In this case, it may be best for you to arrange a ride home.
Can a tooth that has had root canal therapy redevelop an infection?
Although root canal therapy is intended to remove all inflammatory or infected tissue from the tooth, there is still a possibility that the infection could resurface. This can happen if germs are able to re-enter the tooth, either through a fracture or decay. Re-infection can be avoided with good oral care and routine dental exams. It's important to consult with us at Dr. Levi Evalt Dental Excellence right away if you suspect that a root canal has become infected again, either over the phone or in person, as early action can help avoid the need for more complex treatments.
What can I do to avoid needing root canal therapy?

The best method to avoid needing a root canal is to practice proper oral hygiene, which includes brushing and flossing your teeth at least twice a day and going to Dr. Levi Evalt Dental Excellence for cleanings and checkups on a regular basis. Avoiding foods and beverages that are high in sugar and acid can also help avoid tooth decay, which is a typical reason for needing a root canal.
